What drives you to show up each day and give your best at Valley?

They say you should find your passion and turn it into a career – and I truly feel like that’s what I’ve done at Valley. What started out as a bit of luck, working in the café on Manning Street, has turned into one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Over time, I’ve built incredible connections with the people in this community, and that’s what keeps me coming back every single day. It’s not just a job – it’s a place where I feel I really belong and can make a difference. Knowing I’m part of something meaningful, surrounded by people who inspire me daily, is why I continue to show up each and every day.

Why is supporting people with disability and their families important to you?

I’ll admit, prior to starting at Valley industries I had no idea about the sheer amount of people in our area that have a disability and require supports in everyday life.

During my time here, I have come to love the connections I’ve built with both the clients and their families. Being able to make real difference in allowing those opportunities to go away and do things that otherwise wouldn’t be readily available is a huge part of why I do what I do.

And honestly, one of my favourite things is bumping into clients at the supermarket or around town – there’s this real sense of community now that fills me with pride. I keep showing up each day because I know people rely on me, but I’ve realised I rely on them too. They’ve helped me discover a real passion for this industry, and I’m so grateful for that.

What’s one thing you’re proud to be part of at Valley?

I am so proud of the milestones I have gotten to witness and be a part of during my time here. At an individual level supporting clients to achieve their goals of getting their learners driver’s licence and then going on to get their ‘P’ plates brings so much joy and pride to my work. I also feel incredibly lucky to cheer on our Touch Football and Special Olympics teams – watching them compete at state and national levels is not just inspiring, it’s a reminder of how far passion and teamwork can take you. Moments like that really highlight the impact of what we do.
